WILLIAM HENRY "BILL" JORDAN 021907

BILL JORDAN

William Henry "Bill" Jordan died October 4, 1997 at the age of 86 in Linden, TEXAS.
He was born February 12, 1911 in Sheneyville, LA. He was retired from the U.S.Marine Corps Reserves as a Major, the U.S. Border Patrol and the NRA where he served as a Field Representative and a Director. He conducted handgun shooting exhibitions in the states and many foreign countries. He served in World War II and Korea as a Marine. He also served as Shooting Editor for SHOOTING TIMES Magazine. He was a major
design contributor for the S & W Model 19 Combat Magnum revolver and the
famous "Jordan" holster. He wrote several books including "No Second Place Winners"
and "Mostly Huntin' ". He was a recipient of the "Outstanding American Handgunner
Award" and a member of the National Handgun Hall of Fame.

I remember that at six-foot and six-inches tall that he was a big man. When I shook his hand it seemed to completely cover mine. I first met Bill, MR. Jordan, at his home on April 26, 1997. My brother-in-law and I visited Mr. Jordan for several hours and he was more than happy to show us his home, his huge gun collection, and his private office with his many awards. The picture at the top of this page is a picture of a picture that Mr. Jordan signed for me. The poster size picture hangs in my Gun Shop, J. M. GUNN COMPANY in Atlanta, TEXAS. The other pictures of Mr. Jordan were taken when I visited him that April day, just a few months after his wife of 65 years, Anne Jordan, had passed away.

I attended his graveside services along with many law enforcement people and other well know people. It was an Honor to know such a man. A true defender of our Second Amendment Rights.

I hope you have enjoyed this tribute to a fine American Hero. If so, let me know by
sending an e-mail to jmgunnco@thebards.net and list Bill Jordan in the subject line. I would like to read your thoughts. Also, if you sign your e-mail, add your address to so I can see what parts of the world all of your responses are coming from.

Sincerely,
John M. Gunn
